Fantasy Impact:
Just like Suh, he will be a stud at DT for fantasy football managers in IDP leagues. In leagues using the standard NLSFF scoring hwere DT’s get pick bonus points so they are way more relevant to the fantasy managers when making out their starting lineups since a really good one can put up 50 points or more in one game.
That is big time in my book, anytime I can get 50 points in a week from a late round pick, I am all over it. Now I am not saying that mcCoy will walk into the league and dominate off the bat, he has huge upside but no reason to consider him of the prodigy variety.
His fantasy impact should translate from the IDP ranks to the DEF ranks quite easily depending on the current personnel of the DEF surrounding him. He will make plays and command double teams to free up the focal point of the DEF, adding value to the LB in the scheme as well as the DE’s due to the attention that top line interior defender can offer his team.

NLSFF Mock Drafts Selections:
- MDMD 1 | Detroit Lions | RD 1 Pick 2

Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma
- The Detroit Lions have the luxury of drafting the other defensive tackle in the 2010 draft class. This pick arguably is the easiest selection in the entire draft, unless the Rams choose to deviate from expectations and select a franchise quarterback. Gerald McCoy has all the tools to be an elite defensive tackle at the next level. In fact, anything would be an upgrade
for the team that gave up the most points in football last season. In addition, head coach Jim Schwartz knows the importance of dominate defensive
line play all too well. Only recently did Schwartz manage a Tennessee Titans defense that was led by its superior defensive line play, specifically the
play of Albert Haynesworth. Furthermore, McCoy could be an invaluable piece to a defense that would suddenly have some nice young pieces in place such
as Ernie Sims, Louis Delmas, and obviously McCoy. | Saturdays2Sundays |

- Forum Mock Draft 1 | Detroit Lions | RD 1 Pick 2
- The Lions pass rush has been lacking for the past few, well um decades. Unless the Rams shock the world and not let Suh fall into the Lions’ lap they will go to the next best option. Gerald McCoy is a run-stopping mammoth who can fight through double teams and put serious pressure on the QB while clogging up the middle. | JCStone57 |
- NLSFF 1.0 | Detroit Lions | RD 1 Pick 2
- The Lions need help on their OL but at this point I am not sold on there being value available on the OL that is commensurate with the second overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, so I see the Lions going for a defensive playmaker to help increase pressure on opposing QB’s and take Gerald McCoy the DE from Oklahoma. The lines and being physical with opponents is still something the Lions lack but the addition of McCoy should improve the pass rush immediately and HC Schwartz knows how to get the most out of his players on DEF, just like when he was DC for the Titans and Haynesworth was dominating the middle.
