So here we go.
01.St. Louis Rams (Pick by Mike)
NDAMUKONG SUH – Defensive Tackle – Nebraska
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
– After long debate and tossing around the idea of taking a QB we decided to help our struggling defense first. We think we can address the QB situation later in the draft or maybe in free agency. To be honest had there been a legit #1 QB in this draft class we would have went that route but there is not one.
02.Detroit Lions (Pick by Jcstone57)
GERALD MCCOY – Defensive Tackle – Oklahoma
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
The Lions pass rush has been lacking for the past few, well um decades. Unless the Rams shock the world and not let Suh fall into the Lions’ lap they will go to the next best option. Gerald McCoy is a run-stopping mammoth who can fight through double teams and put serious pressure on the QB while clogging up the middle.
03.Tampa Bay Bucs(Pick by Northwoods)
ERIC BERRY – Safety – Tennessee
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
The Bucs would love to land Suh or McCoy here. With both off the board, they change gears an go with saftey Eric Berry. From what I’ve read, he’s billed as an Ed Reed clone. Berry is a natural leader and has been the best college player at his position the past couple of years. He’s a huge/immediate upgrade to the Bucs secondary and the type of player the franchise can build the team around.
04.Washington Redskins (Pick by hobbs)
Sam Bradford – Quarterback – Oklahoma
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
The Shanahan era begins with a young QB prospect for Shanny and his son to develop. Bradford will be the man in WAS and Jason Campbell will be traded to the Raidahs to sit behind J Russell. It will happen, mark my words. Campbell is not the biggest issue but like the rest of his career he will bear the brunt of the blame as he is pushed out the door and the Skins finally get their Franchise QB.
05.Kansas City Chiefs (Selected by mike)
Russell Okung – Offensive Tackle – Oklahoma State
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
In an ideal world (I dont think it will fall like this because this guy would be a steal here) this is what the Chiefs are hoping for is Okung to slide to them. I think he goes earlier because I think in this scenario Bradford and McCoy are being selected way to early. Chiefs need to block the moat down for Cassell and Okung can do that for them.
06.Seattle Seahawks (Pick by jcstone57)
Trent Williams - Offensive Tackle – Oklahoma
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
This may come as a shock to most fans, but the Pete Carroll era has begun in Seattle! The Carroll idea of offense is hit you in the where you don’t expect and run the clock. Williams provides that type of physicality that Carroll expects out of his linemen. Be quick, be moble, push your defernder back!
07.Cleveland Browns (Pick by northwoods)
Joe Haden - Corner Back – Florida
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
The Bowns could go in a number of directions here. With a young QB and a couple of wide receivers taken early in last year’s draft I think they go with the Haden. In Haden, Cleveland gets a top ten talent and the best corner in the class. Paired with Eric Wright the team would have the best tandem of young cover guys in the league.
08.Oakland Raiders (Pick by hobbs)
Bruce Campbell - Offensive Tackle – Maryland
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
This guy is a beast and adding him could very well allow Al Davis to get a little something-something from his skill position players he has invested his last 10 RD1 picks on. Ok so not quite 10 and I agree it is a stretch at this point to refer to Jam Russell as skilled at anything other than failing miserably. Now failing miserably is something he and Al Davis have in common.
Odds are that some workout wonder with no football IQ or hands will impress Davis at the Combine and get drafted in RD1 by the Raidahs, as the complement to Heyward-Bey the WR that OAK’s 2009 RD1 pick was wasted on.
09.Buffalo Bills (Pick by mike)
Jimmy Claussen - Quarterback – Notre Dame
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
I am not entirely sold on taking a QB here but the Bills can not pass up on a franchise QB not only for the franchise but it may make TO feel better about himself. I think Claussen has the tools to be a top QB just not sure if he is 100% ready to make the switch yet. I really thought one of the Tackles that I liked would have dropped here but all of them got picked.
10.Jacksonville Jaguars (Pick by jcstone)
Derrick Morgan - Defensive End – Georgia Tech
(DISCUSS THIS PICK HERE) (TEAM DRAFT DISCUSSION HERE)
The Jaguars are on the cusp, but they need a defensive line that can get to the QB. Morgan will make an impact with his pass rush but is also solid against the run.
